So it seems Kentico has finally cottoned onto a certification program. With the deluge of developers ‘experienced’ in Kentico, this will be a great certification to separate the wheat from the chaff. Having worked quite a bit with Kentico, I'll be looking to brush up on my Kentico 5.5 knowledge and take the exam.
Being Sitecore certified has been a boon in terms of getting work with Enterprise level websites running the CMS. The other CMS I most commonly use and recommend is Kentico. I think having this certification as well would go further to making my CMS recommendations more reputable. I never try to fit a project to a CMS, I rather weight up the requirements and select the most appropriate solution.
I recently had a nasty experience where a client chose the CMS and then selected the agency to do their website work. While I’m always willing to learn a new CMS's and see what I can take away, in this situation the CMS wasn’t suited to the envisioned project. Project delivered just on the line, but without the need of accommodating this CMS, the site would have been delivered earlier and with all features at half the cost.
For the time being, I'm only focusing on Kentico and Sitecore, there might come a time when I even review this. Right now, these are my two market choices and they can fit just about any need.
